When online education first came out, many people thought that it wouldn’t last and that it was just a fad that was created so that schools which were not legitimate could still thrive. However, this has not been proven to be the case.
There are still some fake ’schools’ out there, but many legitimate, accredited schools have online presences now, too. Some schools are completely online, and others are not, but there are always choices now. It’s clear that online education is going to stay around, because teachers and students both like it. They have the opportunity to spend more time with their families and friends, pursue their hobbies, or have jobs outside of college life. It lets them train for better careers – or teach people to have better careers – without having to sacrifice a job that they already have. That’s good for the students, the teachers, the school, and society in general. Everyone benefits.
If it was a fad it would have already disappeared by now, but it’s only growing larger, and the struggling economy is virtually ensuring that it will continue.
